Welcome to our kitchen table pull up a chair, let’s get to know each other…
My name is Jax. I’ve been momming up a storm for the last three years and by storm I mean category 5 chaos! Things have finally calmed down enough that I can find little snippets in my day to share stories about this amazing journey through the labyrinth of motherhood and all the adventures I find myself exploring. I’m making it my mission to convert my home and family to a more sustainable way of life. Making simple swap outs in our day-to-day life and opting for more eco-friendly alternatives in the kitchen, bathroom, baby room and garden.
I’m doing my best to share my love of real food with my kids, in the hopes that one day they will grow up also respecting and nurturing their bodies with wholesome food. My recipes are centred around family-friendly meals using real ingredients, but as a busy working mom of two I take a realistic approach.
My oldest, Harry, is the ultimate Captain Chaos! He’s a real farm boy with a love for all things dirty and dangerous. A day doesn’t go by where he’s not covered in mud. I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that getting finger nails clean in this house is never going to happen.
My youngest, Scarlett, is just the sweetest daintiest little hairy fairy. At almost a year old, I’m in serious denial about how quickly they grow up. So I’m cherishing every cheeky giggle and gurgle and lingering on each delicious marshmallowy cuddle. Making sure to kiss those toes knowing they will never ever be this clean again.
My compost heap is my third child.
I’m always on the lookout for easy attainable ways to live more responsibly day by day. We try our best to live simply and eat cleanly, growing as many veggies as possible in the edible jungle that is my garden. But then life catches up to us too out here in the bush and I’m also zooting around the supermarket aisles in hot pursuit for something quick and easy on those crazy days. It’s all about balancing my inner Pinterest-perfect Mom who loves creating veggie-dense meals that are 100% organic, free-range, grass-fed and ethically sourced. Until reality-check mom shows up a little sweaty and flustered. She just wants to get everyone fed reasonably healthy food that the kids will actually eat, or at the very least just not use to re-plaster the kitchen walls.
So I started a blog to share sneaky tricks and tips to help you also get the good stuff into your loved ones. Chock-a-block with recipes, ideas and products I find along the way that help make living consciously in a crazy world just that little bit more doable.
Nice to meet you, let’s be cyber friends.
